ENDURO produces sealed bearings specifically designed for bicycles, where the stresses differ from industrial purposes due to non-standardized sizes, lower rotational speeds, and static forces. In fact, a high ABEC rating alone does not mean that the bearing possesses all the qualities desired for optimal function and long durability on a bicycle.
The difference between a standard industrial sealed bearing and an ENDURO bike-specific bearing lies in deeper raceways that can absorb lateral forces better – and this applies to all bearings from ENDURO, regardless of the ABEC rating, material, or application!
ABEC 3
ABEC classifications are standards that a sealed bearing must meet. A higher number signals better quality. To obtain an ABEC classification, a number of requirements must be met, including noise testing at high speeds, extremely tight tolerances for inner diameter, outer diameter, ball roundness and raceways, as well as surface treatment for all components.
ENDURO's ABEC 3 bearings surpass competitors in quality and durability, thanks to Grade 10 balls (which are twice as round as the best industrial standard) and their raceways made of 52100 High Carbon Chromium steel alloy. ENDURO ABEC 3 bearings also have steel ball retainers to increase lifespan, and are noise tested to meet or exceed ABEC-3 tolerances.
MAX
Sealed bearings specifically designed for full-suspension frames to solve the challenges associated with stresses that occur when a bearing does not "spin". MAX bearings have 35-40% greater load capacity than standard sealed bearings – this is achieved by inserting the maximum number of balls into the bearing, while the raceways are deeper to provide more lateral support. LLU seals and MaxGrease provide maximum protection against the elements.
BLACK OXIDE
Bearings that receive this treatment, in addition to the tough black color, gain a surface that is slightly harder and more corrosion-resistant. The Black Oxide surface also allows for easier bearing installation and is therefore widely used in MAX bearings and headsets.
