The result is Shimano GRX components, representing Shimano's first component group specifically developed for gravel and rough road cycling. Shimano GRX stands out from other components with its gravel-specific ergonomics, optimized gear ratios, robust reliability, and a quiet and stable drivetrain. The components are available in both mechanical and Di2/electronic versions and can be used with Shimano's existing chains/cassettes (XT/SLX/Deore/Ultegra/105/Tiagra).

GRX rear derailleurs come in short-cage and medium-cage versions. They feature Shimano's Shadow RD+ technology, just like their mountain bike rear derailleurs. With a clutch function that ensures less noise and chain slap. If you use a cassette with 11-30/32T, a short-cage must be used, and if you have a cassette that goes all the way up to 40/42T, a medium-cage is required.
